100% Volunteer Run in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia
The Feral and Abandoned Cat Society (FAACS) is a volunteer-led registered charity and non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives and well-being of cats and communities in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Because we operate entirely without paid staff every dollar you donate goes directly to the cats we help.
We provide Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), which involves humanely trapping unfixed, homeless community cats, transporting them to a local vet clinic to be spayed or neutered, and returning them to their familiar territory 24-48 hours after their procedure.
Our Sponsorship program (featured on our Facebook page) directly funds the surgeries and recovery needs of the community cats we help through our TNR work. To sponsor a community cat through FAACS, you send a donation of $150 for a male cat and $200 for a female cat to help us cover the cost of their care. In return, we send you their backstory and photo to help you understand just how big of an impact your generosity has made in their life.
FAACS also offers a Low-Income Spay-Neuter Program to the public which allows us to help you access affordable spay and neuter services to prevent unwanted litters and improve the health and well-being of your pet cat.
And our Food for Ferals food drive helps us provide cat food to the people who feed and take care of community cat colonies all over Cape Breton Island.
COMMUNITY CAT FOOD DRIVE
Did you know there are colonies of feral and community cats all across Cape Breton?
Some are hidden, some are more well known. And these colonies are cared for by members of our community who provide food and fresh water every single day of the year (rain or snowstorm or shine!) to cats who rely on them for their survival.
These caretakers pay for the food themselves. They do not receive outside support. We all know how expensive food, in general, has become in the last few years. So, to ease the burden on our local colony caretakers, we're asking for your help in keeping these cats fed.
