It was the first time the society held the event and vice-president Deana Lloy said it was a huge success, with 30 people taking part under instruction from artist Angela Mercer-Penny. “We had such a great response — it was sold-out,” said Lloy. “We couldn’t ask for more than that.”

Feral and Abandoned Cat Society

The Feral and Abandoned Cat Society (FAACS) is a registered charity that was founded in 2012 and is run entirely by volunteers. Our programs help prevent and humanely control homeless cat populations, improving the quality of life for cats and communities on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia.

 

The objectives of our society are to promote the welfare of animals for the benefit of the public by:

  • Operating a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program

  • Providing a spay-neuter program for low-income cat owners

  • Educating the public on responsible pet ownership

 

To date, we have provided veterinary care to over 12,000 cats and have provided food and shelter to over 1,000 cats!
