The Feral and Abandoned Cat Society (FAACS) is a volunteer-led registered charity and non-profit organization dedicated to serving both the cats and the communities of Cape Breton Island.

We offer Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) services for homeless cats in our communities. TNR involves humanely trapping a feral or community cat, arranging a spay or neuter through a local vet clinic, and returning the cat to his or her familiar territory 24-48 hours after the procedure.

We identify cats who have been TNR’d by their ear tip, which is done by a veterinarian while under sedation during their spay or neuter.

FAACS also offers affordable spay and neuter services to the public through our Low-Income Spay-Neuter program. If you live in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and earn less than $30,000 annually, we can cover the cost of your pet cat’s spay or neuter. We do ask for a donation of $100 for a male neuter and $140 for a female spay to help offset the cost of the procedure we pay for, which is significantly higher.
